Why did chimpanzees get screwed over in the evolutionary chain?

If humans and chimps shared a common ancestor, then humans got intelligence and chimps got strength. I read that chimps were 5 to 8 times the strength of a human. Humans are much much more intelligent that any chimp in existence. Humans are also the smartest creatures on the planet. (Don't say dolphins because that is still unconfirmed.) It also seems that humans get to stand up and walk on two legs while chimps still "crawl". If anyone can tell me why there are still chimps and why they aren't humans or at least a type of human.
