Don't tell him how mad you are. Tell him you're deeply concerned. Tell him that no relationship should require that he sacrifice absolutely everything that makes him an individual, let alone abandoning his children, whose emotional claim on him should trump everyone else's. And if that's the price his girlfriend's demanding, you don't believe making things "work" is worth what it will cost him. That said, tell him you care about him, and that if he decides he needs you after all, you want him to know that you'll be there for him. His kids, on the other hand, may be a different story, so he'd better think long and hard before trying to sever that tie.
